Rhythm Blues was the one of the most popular music ever created by African Americans. The origin of R&B dates back to the end of World War II and the early 1960's. Ray Charles, Little Richard and James Brown rank among the biggest R&B performers in small combos and using blue-style vocals. The saxophone and piano were a strong part of R&B music.
